Founded in 2012, Fioretto is a historical dance ensemble based in Rakvere, bringing together dance enthusiasts eager to explore the rhythms and movement patterns of centuries past. Under the guidance of Külli Kressa, the ensemble revives court dances from the late Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. In addition to aristocratic choreographies, their repertoire includes elements of bourgeois heritage, carefully documented in historical sources, offering an exciting contrast to the refined elegance of courtly dance.
Fioretto’s dancers perform in historically inspired, authentic costumes, enhancing the performances with a truly immersive period atmosphere. Historical dance is more than just replicating steps—it is a unique time-travel experience, opening doors to the grand salons and ballrooms of bygone eras.
Over the years, the ensemble has participated in numerous festivals, historical celebrations, and cultural events, delivering both entertaining and educational performances. Through continuous growth and deep engagement with historical material, Fioretto has established itself as a key presence in Estonia’s historical dance scene. Their mission remains to bring the past to life through movement, rhythm, and elegance.
